Dog Licensing Information
All dogs 6 months of age must be licensed by April 1. The fee is $11.00 for neutered/spayed and $15.00 for intact dogs registered before April 1. A $2.00 late penalty for neutered/spayed dogs and a $4.00 penalty for intact dogs is applied after April 1. In order to be registered, dogs must have a current rabies certificate that is on file at the Town Clerk's Office.
You can license your dog(s) by coming into the Town Clerk’s Office, mailing your check with a copy of the most recent Rabies Certificate with a self-addressed stamped envelope, or placing your check with a copy of the most recent Rabies Certificate with a self-addressed stamped envelope into our Town Drop Box located at the curb in front of Damon Hall. Please provide a copy of the most recent Rabies Certificate for each animal (you may contact us to check if we have an up-to-date certificate on file).
Vermont State Statute 20 VSA § 3581 requires that all dogs in town be registered, numbered, described, and licensed every year. It is the job of the Town Clerk’s Office to comply with this statute. All dogs over 6 months of age must be licensed by April 1st each year.
Licensing your dog provides the town information to ensure that lost dogs may be reunited with their owner. A portion of the fee contributes to state-wide rabies clinics and low-cost spay & neuter programs.
Please contact the Town Clerk’s Office with any questions. We appreciate your cooperation in licensing your dog(s)!
