North Hartland Dam: The recreation area on Clay Hill Road features picnic facilities with shelters nature trails, swimming and a boat launch, with snowmobile trails, cross country skiing and snow shoeing in the winter. The hours are 8am-8pm daily. Fee is $1 per person over 12 for entrance to recreation area (max $3 per car); $2 for use of boat launch; shelters, $60 and $40, plus a $5 electricity charge. Shelters are available on a first-come, first-served basis; reservations are encouraged. Call (802) 295-2855.
Eshqua Bog: owned by the Nature Conservancy and the New England Wildflower Society is on Garvin Hill Road. The walking trails are especially popular when the lady’s slippers bloom in June.
Sumner’s Falls: on the Connecticut River off Route 5; picnic facilities
Covered Bridges: The Willard Bridges are on Mill Road in North Hartland; the Martinsville Bridge is on Martinsville Road near Hartland Three Corners.
